Not only is it safer to “look both ways,” it is also considerate. The roadways are a community meeting place for people moving on foot, bike, and auto, and each must kindly share the road. Considerate children learn not only to be safe but also to think about others who are also using the road. Inconsiderate children, however, jeopardize their own health and the health and good will of others with whom they will surely meet one way or another on the road.
